Flat tire!

Today as I was getting my daughter out of the SUV she asked me what a sound was.
I listened and told her it was cicadas. But then I walked around to the back of the truck and didn't hear it anymore.
It wasn't insects. It was this gigantic nail thingy in my tire. It was loosing air so quickly that we could see it deflating.
When my husband pulled the thing out it was over four inches long. How did I not notice this going into the tire and how in the world did it make it in? The tip is flat and it is huge. And I only went about five miles from home.
Jon rode his bicycle to work today. Since I had plans (that involved driving) this evening I thought I'd be helpful and change the tire. Wow! An SUV is a completely different story than a car. It was difficult and I was still working on it (and COVERED in dirt) when Jon came home to rescue me.
But the hole is plugged (let's hope it stays that way) and the tire is back on the truck.

  1. It’s really easier to work when you have a companion! Is that a nail? I wonder where that came from. And how come its tip is flat? Anyway, it’s a good thing you know how to change flat tires or else you will be spending money just to have it replaced.
