Fort Sumter

One of Jon's co-workers had recommended taking the ferry to Fort Sumter. So after breakfast we headed downtown to catch the ferry. Traffic was terrible and we had to make a run for it after parking our car. So I left my jacket behind and the wind was a bit cold. But we made it and I was able to get some great photos.

Back before the Civil War the fort was three stories tall. After the war it was mostly destroyed and in the late 1800s when they began to uncover the ruble they found walls and canons buried in sand. The black portion of the fort was build in the early 1900s, I believe.

You can see our ferry waiting for us.

 A rainbow at the end.
