Oxymoron

Oxymoron :
a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in “cruel kindness” or “to make haste slowly.”

Jon and I were having a conversation the other day. I'd read some article and was feeling a bit conflicted. When examined closely my hobbies, actions, thoughts, and personality seemed to be a bit bi-polar. An oxymoron of sorts.

I'm a list maker, rule follower, planner, ocd tendencies, organizer, quiet, everything perfect kind of girl. My house is almost always clean or can be gotten that way quickly. I'm a nerd to put it simply. I like routines and order.

I'm also a motorcycle owner/rider, color my hair strange colors, love driving fast (we won't talk about the rules I MIGHT have broken getting those tickets), the louder the music the better, eclectic tastes in music and style, and a bit weird and crazy.

I was wondering out loud to my husband if maybe there was something wrong with me that I had such opposites in my personality.

Jon just quietly said
"That's why we're soul mates."

I keep seeing this being misquoted as a Dr. Seuss quote - It's not, it's Robert Fulghum, and it actually goes like this “We’re all a little weird. And life is weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.” ― Robert Fulghum
My sweet husband doesn't talk very much. But when he does it counts. Love that man.

So here's to mutual weirdness.
