Photo A Day - Day 1

I was very proud of myself for completing the entire month of June and for the most part on time. So I took July off and will be trying again this month.

Something beginning with N.
Nestle!

I kept my eyes open all day and carried my camera everywhere with me. I saw a ton of photo ops, but never anything that began with an N. At lunch I asked my son what he thought I should shoot.
His answer - "Nothing!"

By supper time I still hadn't come up with anything so I asked my husband. His response - "Nothing!"
What is up with these men?! So I fell back on something that is always a part of my day - chocolate.

Photo A Day Challenge Day 29

In my bag
Chocolate!
I'm sure the idea was for my purse, my book bag, or perhaps my camera bag.
But let me tell you, I see (and use) this bag every. single. day.
It is a very important bag. =)

Chocolate cake and running

Today I was reminded of a story I heard once.
A lady was trying to lose weight, but had baked a chocolate cake for her husband.
She was at home and he was at work and the temptation to eat just one piece was overwhelming.
There was half a cake sitting on the counter - four pieces of moist chocolate cake, dripping with sweet, gooey chocolate frosting. She just couldn't resist.
But a true chocolate lover can't settle for one or two pieces and she was enjoying her third piece when she realized something. Her husband was going to come in and notice that she'd blown her diet. She had a brilliant plan. She would just bake another cake.
She savored the last piece as the new cake baked in the oven.
But as she pulled that warm, delicious cake out of the oven she realized with dismay (and a bit of glee) that she would now have to eat half if she wanted her husband to be fooled.

What brought this little story to mind were the brownies left over from this weekend when we had company. Since I'm on a diet, of sorts, I only had two small pieces. So this left over half a pan for Jon to work on this week.
After lunch and before I go out to run I'm very, very tempted to indulge in something chocolatey. Two friends were no help at all so I emailed Jon, asking him to help me not eat the brownies. Then the phone rang and I didn't return to the computer for a while.
When I did return almost an hour later it was to find two messages.
First message -
Thou shalt not covet thy husband’s brownies!!!

Second message quite a while later (after no response from me) -
Are you eating my brownies???

Poor guy thought he'd come home to an empty pan. =) This is what prompted the memory, but I also got to thinking. Jon has no clue what I do or eat when he's at work. He just takes my word that I'm trying to eat healthy and that I'm running. I could be sitting on the couch with a book and just saying that I'm exercising.
So tomorrow I am going to give Dominic the camera and prove that I really am exercising every day.
As for the brownies - You'll just have to take my word for it. ; )

Heaven

I need to show you something.
It's a little piece of heaven on a plate.
Now if you are reading this blog then I'm going to make the assumption that you know me fairly well and know of my deep and unwavering love for chocolate in pretty much any form.

Here it is -
It's chocolate chip Belgium waffles made with half and half and TONS of mini chocolate chips. The batter is super thick and it's almost like eating cake. I'm drooling as I write this and I already have a belly full of these waffles (Yes, I ate more than one. I can't help myself).

Here's a closer look in case you couldn't see it very well. =)
My life is AWESOME!!!
